Abstract

The financial statements of the companies have the main purpose of contributing to the substantiation of the investment decisions, which leads to the necessity of the emergence of a common denominator, more precisely an accounting framework that ensures the comparability of the financial statements. Thus, we can specify that only a harmonized and globally accepted system can ensure the transparency and predictability of financial statements for interested users. Therefore, due to the process of globalization, the need to harmonize the language used appears, as accounting is one of the basic components of communication in the economy. The process of harmonization of the European accounting directives has led to the formation of a common financial reporting framework, and the adaptability of the accounting of investment companies to the capital market requirements has been facilitated by the adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards.
