Abstract

The aim of the paper is to present a bibliometric analysis of the transactive memory system (TMS) literature with focus on the correlation between the organizational values, culture and the development of the TMS.

Transactive memory systems (TMS) theory has gained significant attention across various scientific domains, especially in cognitive and social psychology, communication, management and organizational performance. A strong link between TMS, knowledge management, and organizational performance have had been identified across the studies.

The motivation of the research is that there are not studies to analyze the correlation between organizational culture and values and the TMS development and the fact that in Romania the exploration of TMS in the literature it is at an incipient study level.

For the bibliometric analysis, Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection have had been used and the results were analyzed in three steps. First step searched English documents with the phrase "transactive memory" in the topic; the second step narrowed the results by searching the articles with the keywords "transactive memory AND knowledge and the third step focused on works containing the keywords "transactive memory AND knowledge AND performance. The literature indicates the opportunity for a comprehensive analysis of the transactional memory system as a strategic management resource.
The bibliometric program VOSviewer have had been used to analyze data from Web of Science, allowing for the inventory and visualization of similarities, co-occurrence of keywords, citations, and co-citation of sources. The program identifies bibliographic coupling, prominent authors, and their countries of origin.

The theoretical importance of the project can be found in the early stage of research in this area in Romania and connection of the research with the industry and the lack of studies exploring the analysis of the correlative link between organizational performance and organizational culture and values and the development of TMS.
