In response to Question on your 2020 USV Conference paper
The question is a very complex one. It is true that a lot of businesses will have to reinvent in order to survive and prosper during this crisis and the changes that will bring. However, we believe that entrepreneurs are individuals who are risk taking and very adaptable, so most of them will make changes to their business by changing their business model and by catering to the new needs of the consumer. Therefore, we believe that, fundamentally, the entrepreneurs have the skills required to overcome the crisis. This does not mean, however that they will not be affected. When there is no demand for a product and there is no sustainable or economical way to change the business, a lot of business will be affected.
The second part of the question is a very interesting one and this talks about personality traits. It is very interesting, from our point of view is to see how will teenagers and young people, the entrepreneurs of tomorrow change? Will they become more risk adverse, or will become more fearless? How will their culture, as defined by Hofstede change? Can cultures even change? This will be very interesting to watch in the years to come.
Thank you for your question and for the kind words!
